About

About Screenpay & our editorial standards

Screenpay is Australian payment-preparation software for performers and creators. It records the fee and treatment you select, shows source-linked working and flags gaps before approval. Supported calculations include explicit no-GST treatment and GST-exclusive or GST-inclusive arithmetic for a confirmed wholly taxable contractor fee stack; confirmed Australian-resident no-TFN Scale 4 withholding; 12% statutory SG on a selected, confirmed earnings basis; and the FY 2026–27 employer/payee annual maximum-base cap when the operator supplies and attests the complete YTD opening and source. Other PAYG outcomes remain source-labelled external inputs; unsupported complex GST, super and timing cases stay outside approval.

Approval freezes the reviewed totals, identities, routing, treatments, declarations and sources into a batch record, then Screenpay produces hand-off files for your bank, books and internal records. You authorise payments through your own bank. Screenpay does not replace full-service payroll or STP lodgment software, a payroll bureau, a bank, or advice from a registered tax or BAS agent. It never holds or moves your money.

The guides on this site describe rules used by supported calculations. They are maintained by the Screenpay operator and show a review date; that date is not a representation that every Australian payroll, award, tax or contract rule has been reviewed.

Supported rule set reviewed 7 August 2026

How we source it

Material rule claims in a guide trace to a primary source — the relevant Act on the Federal Register of Legislation, ATO guidance, or an identified MEAA/CGA instrument — and the citation is shown beside the claim. Where we can't verify a number, we say so and tell you to confirm it, rather than guess.

How we date the review

We review the rules the product expressly supports and record the review date in one place. A dated implemented change is recorded in the rule log — 2 so far. The date is a maintenance marker, not a guarantee of complete legal currency, and it does not replace review of a client's facts or professional advice.

What these guides are — and aren't

They are plain-English reference material for producers, written to be cited and checked. They are not financial or tax advice, and they are not a substitute for a registered tax agent or your production accountant. For anything that turns on your specific circumstances, confirm it with a professional.
